A republican working group led by the Chairman of the Tourism Committee, A. Akkulov, arrived in the Samarkand region on a working visit. The main purpose of the trip was to discuss measures to enhance the region's tourist appeal, create new routes, and modernize existing infrastructure.
As part of the visit, an open dialogue was held, bringing together about 170 industry representatives — entrepreneurs, tour operators, artisans, employees from the hotel and restaurant business, transport companies, and cultural institutions. Specialists from relevant ministries and departments also joined the discussion.
Participants were presented with the results of projects implemented in 2025 and key tasks for the current year were outlined. Among the priorities are the renovation of tourist facilities, improving service quality, creating jobs, actively attracting investments, and promoting regional brands.
The first day of meetings took place at the Mövenpick Hotel, where representatives of the accommodation and catering sectors discussed current industry challenges and proposed initiatives to address them. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of modern service standards and enhancing the comfort level for guests in the region.
On the second day, the dialogue continued at the Samarkand Youth Center with the participation of guides, tour operators, transport providers, and masters of folk crafts. The main topics were the development of new tourism products, improving conditions for travelers, and expanding cooperation with the private sector.
Furthermore, members of the working group visited a number of tourist sites in the districts of the region, where they reviewed current projects and identified further development directions.
It is expected that the adopted initiatives will strengthen the partnership between the state and business, increase the efficiency of the industry, and create additional opportunities for sustainable tourism growth in the region. The next similar event is scheduled for February 18 in Termez.
